The lowest figure we found came from Texas stores outside Dallas, where Tasting Table reported a $4.69 Hamburger Happy Meal in February 2026. At the other end, a Columbus, Ohio, store's delivery menu in July 2026 listed $6.69 for the Hamburger Happy Meal, $7.19 for the 4-piece McNuggets version and $8.19 for the 6-piece. Delivery menus usually cost more than ordering at the counter, so in-store prices at that store were likely a bit lower. In the priciest areas it goes higher still: Mashed found 6-piece McNuggets Happy Meals near $9 at some locations in 2026. For perspective, Mashed put a Hamburger Happy Meal at about $2.23 to $2.99 back in 2001, before milk and apple slices were part of the meal.

What comes in a McDonald's Happy Meal?

Every McDonald's Happy Meal comes with a main, kids-size World Famous Fries, Apple Slices, a kids drink and a Happy Meal toy. There are three mains on the U.S. menu in fall 2026.

For a younger or lighter eater, the 4-piece McNuggets Happy Meal is the smallest at 395 calories. For a hungrier kid, the 6-piece McNuggets or Hamburger Happy Meal adds more food for 475 calories.

A few practical points help you choose:

• Hamburger: McDonald's plain Hamburger, the lightest burger on the menu at 250 calories by itself. It is usually the cheapest Happy Meal.
• 4-piece McNuggets: the smallest main, with 170 calories for the nuggets alone. Good for toddlers or as a snack.
• 6-piece McNuggets: 250 calories of nuggets, and often the best fit for school-age kids.
• Drink: water keeps the total lowest, and 1% milk is the drink McDonald's uses for its Happy Meal calorie figures. Check the app for the chocolate milk and juice drink numbers.

What is the Happy Meal toy right now?

McDonald's changes Happy Meal toys regularly, and its U.S. Happy Meal page does not name the current toy. To see the current toy, ask at your restaurant or look at the kids menu in the McDonald's app.

Past lineups give a sense of how this works. In January 2026, for example, McDonald's brought back 16 Changeables toys, first released between 1987 and 1990, for a limited run. Limited sets like that do not last all year, so if your child wants a specific toy, ask the store before you order.
