What are the hours for Dairy Queen?

Dairy Queen hours depend on the store, because independent franchise owners run nearly every DQ and set their own schedule. There is no chain-wide opening or closing time, so the only reliable answer for your location is its page in the DQ app or the store locator on dairyqueen.com.

To show what that looks like in practice, we opened six DQ Grill & Chill store pages in six states in November 2026. The table below lists what each one showed. Each store page lists separate times for the dining room ("Store"), the drive-thru and curbside pickup, and it marks the store as "Open until" or "Closing soon" in real time. It also lists upcoming temporary closures, which is where holiday closures show up.

The type of store matters too. DQ Grill & Chill restaurants sell burgers, chicken strips and treats, and a small number add breakfast, which changes their opening time. Treat-focused DQs sell soft serve only. Texas stores are run under a separate Texas DQ operators' group with their own food menu, so their hours and specials can differ from what you see in other states. When does Dairy Queen close?

Most Dairy Queen stores close somewhere between about 8:30 and 10:30 p.m. That was the full range across the six store pages we checked: two dining rooms closed at 8:30 p.m., two stores at 10 p.m. and one at 10:30 p.m. We could not find a published chain-wide latest closing time, so a store near you could stay open later.

The drive-thru is often your best bet late in the evening. At the Kingdom City, Missouri store, the dining room closed at 8:30 p.m. but the drive-thru stayed open until 9 p.m. Curbside tends to stop first: Aitkin, Minnesota ended curbside at 7:45 p.m., 45 minutes before its dining room closed. If you are heading out for a late Blizzard, check the drive-thru line on the store page rather than the dining room hours.

What time does Dairy Queen open?

Dairy Queen stores that don't serve breakfast usually open around 10:30 or 11 a.m. The Whitefish, Montana store page we opened showed both the store and the drive-thru closed until 11 a.m. Stores that serve breakfast open earlier, often around 6 or 7 a.m., according to reporting by The Takeout.

What time does Dairy Queen start serving lunch?

Dairy Queen starts serving its lunch menu of burgers, chicken strips and hot dogs when the store opens, usually around 10:30 or 11 a.m. At the few stores that serve breakfast, lunch takes over when breakfast ends, typically between 10:30 and 11 a.m., and the switch happens by noon.

Some stores also run their own lunch window: the Gilbertsville, Pennsylvania store listed a daily lunch special from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with chicken strips or a cheeseburger, fries, a drink and a dessert.

Are Dairy Queen lunch deals good all day?

DQ's national meal deals are generally not limited to lunch hours. When DQ launched its earlier $6 Meal Deal, it described the offer as available all day at participating stores, and its October 2026 announcement of the $8 Meal Deal lists no time window. Franchise owners can still set their own rules, and local lunch specials, like the 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. special at the Pennsylvania store above, do have set hours.

Is Dairy Queen open on holidays?

Some Dairy Queen stores close on major holidays and others stay open, because each owner decides. Two of the six store pages we opened listed temporary closures for Thanksgiving and Christmas Day, and the Tullahoma, Tennessee store also listed Christmas Eve. The other four showed no holiday closures at the time we checked.

Those listings are the best signal you'll get. Closures appear on the store page as "Temporarily closed" with the date, so check the page a few days before a holiday. How do you check Dairy Queen hours for your store?

The fastest check is the DQ app or the store locator on dairyqueen.com. Search your city, open the store, and look at three lines: Store, Drive-Thru and Curbside. Each shows whether that part of the store is open and when it closes, and the page flags "Closing soon" near the end of the day.

Call the store if you are picking up an ice cream cake or a large order near closing time. Cake pickups and big orders can take longer, and a store may stop taking them before it closes. For anything else, the store page is the best source, since it shows the schedule the franchise owner manages. If the page and the sign on the door disagree, the store's own posted hours win, so a quick call settles it before a long drive.
