How much is a Wendy's chicken sandwich?

A Wendy's chicken sandwich runs from about $2.19 for the Crispy Chicken Sandwich to about $7.59 for the Asiago Ranch Club. The Spicy and Classic Chicken Sandwiches, the two most popular, cost about $5.99 to $6.59 each.

Those prices are the middle half of Wendy's own pickup prices at the U.S. stores we checked in late October 2026. As a combo with small fries and a small drink, the Spicy or Classic cost about $9.69 to $10.19. Upsizing the fries and drink costs more.

What changed with Wendy's new chicken sandwich in 2026?

On March 30, 2026, Wendy's rolled out an updated Spicy Chicken Sandwich and Classic Chicken Sandwich at all U.S. restaurants. Both got a new marinade, a panko-style breading, a soft potato bun and a richer homestyle mayo.

Wendy's said the spicy breading now uses nine spices, and the Spicy Chicken Sandwich gained pickles. The company also said it tested the update for more than a year before launch.

The potato bun did not stop at chicken. Wendy's moved its whole premium sandwich line onto it, including the Dave's Single, Dave's Double, Dave's Triple, Baconator, Son of Baconator, Big Bacon Classic and both Asiago Ranch Club sandwiches. If you remember headlines about Wendy's upgrading its chicken sandwiches and adding potato buns, this is that change.

Today, the Spicy Chicken Sandwich comes with lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo on the potato bun. The Classic has the same toppings without the heat.

Is the Spicy or Classic Chicken Sandwich better?

They cost the same and are nearly identical on calories, so the choice comes down to heat. The Spicy has 560 calories and the Classic 550, and both have 28 grams of protein.

The Spicy fillet is marinated in a blend of peppers and spices, and Wendy's bills it as the original spicy chicken sandwich in fast food. The Classic uses a fillet without that heat, with the same lettuce, tomato, pickles and mayo.

One difference worth knowing: sodium. The Classic has 1,630 mg and the Spicy 1,500 mg, so the spicy one is actually a little lower. With Wendy's Rewards, either premium sandwich costs 700 points, while the Crispy Chicken Sandwich costs just 300. Does Wendy's have a grilled chicken sandwich?

No. Wendy's discontinued its Grilled Chicken Sandwich in 2023 and replaced it with a grilled chicken wrap, and none of the 23 Wendy's menus we checked in October 2026 listed a grilled chicken sandwich.

The closest option today is the Grilled Chicken Wrap: herb-marinated grilled chicken, shredded cheddar, romaine and ranch sauce in a warm tortilla. It costs about $6.29 to $6.50, or about $9.99 to $10.29 as a combo, and has 420 calories and 28 grams of protein. That is the same protein as the Spicy Chicken Sandwich for 140 fewer calories.

What are the cheapest chicken sandwiches and upgrades at Wendy's?

The Crispy Chicken Sandwich, at about $2.19 to $2.70, is the cheapest chicken sandwich at Wendy's. It is a smaller, lightly breaded fillet with lettuce and mayo, and it has 340 calories.
