What counts as a full fast food meal?

For this guide, a full meal means a main item, a side and a drink, or the closest standing bundle a chain sells. We picked the lowest-priced option an adult would actually call lunch, not a single taco or a kids meal. Where a chain has no bundle, we added up typical a la carte prices from our brand pages and said so.

All prices are typical U.S. pickup or in-store prices checked in October 2026. Franchise owners set their own prices, so your store may charge a little more or less, and delivery apps usually charge more. Limited-time deals can end without much notice.

One more rule: we only list deals that were running nationally in late October 2026. Past promotions, such as Popeyes' $5 Faves menu that ended in February, are left out.

Which fast food chain has the cheapest full meal in 2026?

Taco Bell and McDonald's tie for the cheapest full meal at $5 each. Taco Bell's Classic Luxe Box and McDonald's McChicken Meal Deal both include a main, extra food and a drink for a single flat price at most locations.

The Taco Bell menu gets the edge on volume. When Taco Bell launched its $5 Classic box, it held a Beefy 5-Layer Burrito, a Crunchy Taco, Cinnamon Twists and a medium fountain drink, and the box lands between 820 and 1,100 calories depending on the drink. Some stores charge $5.99, and the contents can rotate, so open the app before you order.

The McDonald's menu counters with the McChicken Meal Deal: a McChicken, a 4-piece McNuggets, small fries and a small soft drink for $5. Step up to the $6 McDouble Meal Deal if you want beef. Both sit on the McValue menu, and McDonald's notes that prices can run higher in some areas.

Beyond the two $5 bundles, Dunkin', Wendy's and KFC all let you eat for about $6. Each takes a different approach, so the best pick depends on the time of day and what you crave.

Dunkin' $6 Meal Deal

Dunkin' bundles a Bacon, Egg and Cheese sandwich, hash browns and a medium hot or iced coffee for $6 at participating stores. With the sandwich on an English muffin (420 calories), six hash browns (110) and black coffee, you are near 535 calories. Substitutions are not allowed. Wendy's Biggie Bag

The $6 Biggie Bag pairs a Crispy Chicken Sandwich, Jr. Cheeseburger, Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger or Double Stack with nuggets, fries and a small drink. Wendy's says some stores, including those in Alaska, California and Hawaii, charge more, and we saw $7 at a few. Biggie Bites cost $4 but come with only one small item and a drink, not a side. KFC Go Bucket

KFC's Go Buckets start at $3.49 and hold four nuggets, two wings or one tender with fries or potato wedges, at 510 to 560 calories. Add a $2.99 fountain Pepsi and you are at about $6.48. KFC's 2-piece drumstick and thigh is another bargain: Drive Thru Index recorded it at $2.99 at more than 3,000 KFC restaurants on Oct. 27, 2026. Check the KFC menu for sides.

Which chains have a $7 meal deal?

Burger King, Sonic and Whataburger each sell a complete meal for $7, and all three include a drink. These are the best options if you want a burger with fries rather than a snack-size bundle.

• Burger King $7 Trio: pick any three items from a set list that includes the Whopper Jr., Original Chicken Sandwich, Bacon Cheeseburger, 8-piece Chicken Fries, medium fries and a medium drink. What is the cheapest meal at KFC, Popeyes, Chick-fil-A and Zaxbys?

KFC is the cheapest chicken chain by a wide margin, while Chick-fil-A is the priciest of the four for a basic meal. None of the four chicken chains has a $5 bundle with a drink right now.

KFC: a Go Bucket at $3.49 or the $2.99 two-piece dark-meat order, plus a $3.49 side or $2.99 drink, keeps you near $6.50. For a family, the $20 Build a Bucket adds four sides and four biscuits to eight pieces.

Are Arby's, Cook Out, Panda Express and Chipotle cheap for a full meal?

Arby's and Cook Out both sell a full bundle for under $8, while Panda Express and Chipotle start closer to $9 before a drink. The last two pack in more food per order, though, so the gap narrows if you split or save leftovers.

Cook Out Tray (about $7.99): one main, two sides and a drink. Cook Out posts no prices online, and the most recent figure we could verify was $7.99 for a burger tray at a Wilmington, North Carolina, store in April 2025, so treat it as a rough guide. The fastest way to cut the price of any meal is to skip the fountain drink and build from the value menu instead of ordering a combo. App deals and sign-up rewards can then push the cost down further.

• Build from value menus. McDonald's Under $3 Menu covers the McDouble, McChicken, small fries and a medium soft drink. At Taco Bell, a Cheesy Bean and Rice Burrito ($1.49 to $1.89, 400 calories) plus a Cheesy Roll Up ($1.29 to $1.69) is a filling lunch for under $4. Sonic's $1.99 menu lets you pair a Jr Bacon Cheeseburger with a Crispy Tender Wrap for $3.98.
• Drop the soda. Medium fountain drinks cost about $2.40 to $3.69 at the chains we track. Asking for water instead trims roughly $2.50 to $3.50 from an a la carte order.
