Quick answer

MyMcDonald's Rewards gives the best verified payback: a McChicken costs 2,000 points, or $20 of spending, so you get about 17 to 21 percent back. Arby's, Dunkin' and Wendy's return roughly 10 to 15 percent on their best rewards, Taco Bell about 8 to 12 percent, and Chick-fil-A and Chipotle about 6 to 7 percent on full meals.

Key takeaways

  • MyMcDonald's Rewards earns 100 points per $1, and a McChicken or cheeseburger costs 2,000 points, according to The Points Guy's August 2026 guide.
  • Wendy's Rewards earns 10 points per $1 on food, charges 700 points for a Dave's Single, and keeps points for 365 days.
  • Chick-fil-A One raises the earn rate from 10 to 13 points per $1 as you climb from the base tier to Signature at 10,000 points.
  • Chipotle Rewards needs 1,625 points, or $162.50 of spending, for a free entree, a return of roughly 6 to 7 percent.
  • Cook Out is the only chain of the 15 with no app or rewards program.

Which fast food rewards app gives you the most value?

McDonald's has the best verified payback of the 15 chains we cover, because its cheaper rewards cost very few points for what they are worth on the menu. Arby's, Dunkin' and Wendy's come next on their best rewards, followed by Taco Bell, Chick-fil-A and Chipotle.

Most programs look the same on the surface: earn 10 points per dollar, trade points for food. The difference is what each point buys. A program that charges 2,000 points for a $4 sandwich is much more generous than one that charges 1,600 points for a $9 entree, even though both sound like free food.

We ranked the programs by payback, which is the menu price of a reward divided by the money you have to spend to earn it. The table below shows the best-value reward we could verify at each chain. For seven programs we could not confirm current point costs from the company or a reliable source, so they are listed without a payback figure rather than guessed.

How did we calculate each program's real value?

We took the point cost of each reward, converted it to the dollars you must spend at the base earn rate, and compared that with the item's typical menu price.

For example, MyMcDonald's Rewards earns 100 points per $1. A McChicken costs 2,000 points, so you spend $20 to earn it. The McChicken typically sells for $3.49 to $4.19, so you get back about 17 to 21 percent of what you spent. Wendy's earns 10 points per $1 and charges 350 points for a small chili, so $35 of spending buys a chili that sells for $2.99 to $3.59, about 8.5 to 10 percent.

A few limits to keep in mind:

  • Menu prices vary by location, so your payback will shift a little with your local prices.
  • The best ratio is often on a cheap item. You only get that value if you actually want the item.
  • Third-party delivery usually earns nothing. Wendy's excludes third-party delivery orders, Chick-fil-A says orders placed directly with third parties do not earn points, and Popeyes orders through delivery platforms earn no points either.
  • Point costs change. The Points Guy reported that McDonald's raised most reward costs by 500 points in a recent update, and other chains adjust their charts too.

Why does MyMcDonald's Rewards rank first?

MyMcDonald's Rewards ranks first because its 2,000-point tier, which includes the McChicken, cheeseburger and Sausage Biscuit, costs only $20 of spending. No other program we could verify returns as much on a real sandwich.

You earn 100 points per $1 when you order in the app or scan your code at a kiosk, counter or drive-thru. Redemptions start at 1,500 points for items such as hash browns, a baked apple pie, a small coffee or a vanilla cone. The 3,500-point tier covers medium fries, a Sausage Burrito and a 6-piece McNuggets, and the 7,000-point tier covers a Big Mac, a Quarter Pounder with Cheese, a Happy Meal or a 10-piece McNuggets. A Big Mac at 7,000 points still returns about 7 to 11 percent.

Two catches. Points expire after about six months, so a light user can lose them. And McDonald's app deals often beat the rewards: the deals tab regularly carries free or discounted items, so check both before you redeem. Scan your code even when you pay cash, since every visit counts.

See our McDonald's menu for prices, and our McDonald's vs Burger King vs Wendy's comparison for how the burger apps stack up.

Which rewards app is best for coffee and breakfast?

Dunkin' Rewards pays back best on small add-ons and snacks, McDonald's pays back best on breakfast sandwiches, and Dunkin' coffee itself returns only about 5 percent.

Dunkin' members earn 10 points per $1, and rewards start at 150 points. According to an April 2026 breakdown of Dunkin's chart, 150 points buys a Li'l Treat such as 6-count hash browns or 3 MUNCHKINS, 300 points buys a classic donut, 600 points buys a hot or iced coffee or tea in any size, and 900 points buys a breakfast sandwich. At typical prices, the hash browns ($1.49 to $2.29) return about 10 to 15 percent, while a medium hot coffee ($2.69 to $2.99) at 600 points returns about 4.5 to 5 percent. Members who make 12 visits in a month unlock Boosted Status, which raises earning to 12 points per $1 for three months.

For a breakfast sandwich, McDonald's is the better deal. A Sausage Biscuit costs 2,000 points ($20 of spending), and a Sausage McMuffin with Egg costs 5,000 ($50). At Dunkin', a breakfast sandwich costs 900 points, or $90 of spending, for an item that sells for about $4.99 to $5.99.

If you mostly buy one coffee a day, the $6 Meal Deal at Dunkin' or the $4 Breakfast Meal Deal at McDonald's may save you more than points ever will. Our fast food breakfast hours guide lists when each chain stops serving breakfast.

Which chicken chain has the best rewards program?

Chick-fil-A One is the most transparent chicken program and the only one with an earn rate that climbs to 13 points per $1. Popeyes, KFC and Zaxbys all earn 10 points per $1, but we could not verify their current point costs.

Chick-fil-A One

Chick-fil-A One members earn 10 points per $1 at the base tier, 11 at Silver (1,000 points), 12 at Red (4,000 points) and 13 at Signature (10,000 points). An Icedream cone costs 200 points, medium Waffle Potato Fries cost 400, 2-count Chick-n-Strips cost 600 and 12-count nuggets cost 1,200. At the base rate, the Icedream cone returns about 9 to 10 percent, and the 12-count nuggets ($6.95 to $8.15) return about 6 to 7 percent. Reach Signature and those figures rise by 30 percent. Silver members can also gift rewards to family and friends.

Popeyes, KFC and Zaxbys

  • Popeyes Rewards earns 10 points per $1 on app and website orders, with bonus points on select combos and family meals. Points expire after 180 days without activity.
  • KFC Rewards, launched in 2024, earns 10 points per $1 on app and KFC.com orders, and rewards rotate.
  • Zax Rewardz earns 10 points per $1 in the app, online or in the restaurant, and members get early access to new items, such as the Honey Chipotle Sauce from Oct. 26, 2026.

How do Taco Bell, Chipotle and Panda Express rewards compare?

Taco Bell pays out the most often, Chipotle pays out the biggest single reward, and Panda Express keeps your points the longest without activity.

  • Taco Bell Rewards: You earn 10 points per $1, or 11 after reaching the 2,000-point Fire! tier, and unlock a free item every 250 points. Rewards include items like a Crunchy Taco ($1.89 to $1.99), Cheesy Fiesta Potatoes ($2.29 to $2.99) or a medium fountain drink, which works out to roughly 8 to 12 percent. New members get a free Cantina Chicken Crispy Taco, Beefy 5-Layer Burrito or Soft Taco, and members get $1 drinks during Happier Hour from 2 to 5 p.m. at participating stores.
  • Chipotle Rewards: You earn 10 points per $1 and spend them in the Rewards Exchange, from a side tortilla at 85 points to an entree at 1,625 points. A chicken entree ($9.20 to $9.50) or steak entree ($11.20 to $11.65) returns about 6 to 7 percent. Chipotle adds monthly free bonus drops and gives new members free chips and guacamole with a $5 purchase.
  • Panda Rewards: You earn 10 points per $1 in the app, online, in store or at the drive-thru, and redemptions start at 200 points for upgrades, drinks and food. Points expire only after 12 months without a purchase.

Our Taco Bell vs Chipotle comparison covers prices beyond the rewards.

Are Wendy's, Burger King, Sonic, Whataburger and Arby's rewards worth it?

Wendy's and Arby's are worth joining for anyone who visits monthly, and Sonic is worth it for frequent drive-in regulars. Burger King and Whataburger are harder to judge because their full point charts were not available to verify.

  • Wendy's Rewards: 10 points per $1 on food. The chart runs from 200 points (4-piece nuggets or small Seasoned Potatoes) to 900 points (Baconator or a salad). A 4-piece nuggets ($2.19 to $2.40) at 200 points returns about 11 to 12 percent, most other rewards return about 8 to 10 percent, points last 365 days, and new members get 200 bonus points after a first purchase.
  • Arby's Loaded Rewards: 10 points per $1, double points on the Double Roast Beef and Double Beef 'n Cheddar, and rewards from 300 points ($30 of spending) that can cover a large curly fry ($3.99 to $4.29), about 13 to 14 percent. New members get a free sandwich with a first order of $5 or more.
  • SONIC Rewards: 10 points per $1, rising to 11 at Star (10 visits a year) and 12 at Legend (30 visits). Legend members can pick a perk each visit, such as half-price drinks and slushes or $2 off a $10 order. New members get a medium fries, tots or drink, and everyone gets a birthday corn dog or small shake.
  • Burger King Royal Perks: 10 Crowns per $1, with the lowest reward tier at 200 Crowns after a November 2025 revamp. Crowns expire roughly six months after you earn them.
  • Whataburger Rewards: Creating an account in the app gets you a free Whataburger, and you earn points toward menu items after that.

Cook Out has no app and no rewards program.

How do you get the most out of any fast food rewards app?

Redeem points on the items with the best ratio, never let points expire, and check the app's deals before you spend points at all.

  1. Collect every sign-up bonus. Wendy's (200 points), Arby's (free sandwich), Whataburger (free burger), Taco Bell (free taco or burrito), Chipotle (chips and guacamole) and Sonic (a free burger for joining, per its rewards page in November 2026) all reward new members.
  2. Redeem low on the chart when the ratio is better. A McChicken at McDonald's or 4-piece nuggets at Wendy's returns more per point than most top-tier items.
  3. Scan your code even when you pay cash. McDonald's, Burger King and Wendy's all let you earn at the counter or drive-thru.
  4. Watch expiration dates. McDonald's and Burger King points last roughly six months, Popeyes points lapse after 180 days without activity, and Wendy's points last a year.
  5. Order direct, not through a delivery app. Third-party orders usually earn nothing and often cost more.
  6. Compare rewards with deals. Bundles like McDonald's $5 McChicken Meal Deal or Taco Bell's $5 Classic Luxe Box can save more than a reward redemption. Our cheapest fast food meals guide lists the best of them.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best fast food rewards program?

On verified payback, MyMcDonald's Rewards is the best. You earn 100 points per $1, and a McChicken or cheeseburger costs 2,000 points, or $20 of spending. That returns roughly 12 to 21 percent depending on the item, well above the 6 to 10 percent typical of most other chains we checked.

How much are McDonald's rewards points worth?

At the 2,000-point tier, a McChicken worth $3.49 to $4.19 means each 1,000 points is worth about $1.75 to $2.10. Top-tier items are worth less per point: a Big Mac at 7,000 points works out to about 74 cents to $1.14 per 1,000 points. Points expire after about six months.

How many points is a free Dave's Single at Wendy's?

A Dave's Single costs 700 Wendy's Rewards points, which takes $70 of spending at 10 points per dollar. Cheaper options include a small chili or Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger at 350 points. New members get 200 bonus points after their first purchase, and points last 365 days.

How do Chick-fil-A One tiers work?

Chick-fil-A One has four tiers. Members earn 10 points per $1 at the base level, 11 at Silver (1,000 points), 12 at Red (4,000 points) and 13 at Signature (10,000 points). Rewards include an Icedream cone for 200 points and 12-count nuggets for 1,200 points.

Do you earn rewards points on DoorDash or Uber Eats orders?

Usually not. Wendy's excludes third-party delivery orders from earning, Chick-fil-A says orders placed directly with third-party apps do not earn points, and Popeyes orders through delivery platforms earn no points. To earn, order delivery through the chain's own app where it is offered.

Which fast food chain has no rewards program?

Cook Out, of the 15 chains we cover, has no app and no rewards program. It also offers no online ordering on its website. Every other chain here, from McDonald's to Zaxbys, runs an app-based program that earns points on purchases.
