Does Chipotle cater?

Yes. Chipotle runs a catering service for groups of 6 to 200 people, and it asks for at least 24 hours notice. Orders go through the same company-owned restaurants that make your everyday burrito, so the food matches what you get in line.

You pick one of three formats. Build Your Own sets out trays of protein, rice, beans, salsas and toppings so each guest makes a bowl, burrito or tacos. Burritos by the Box sends burritos that are already rolled and wrapped. Chips & Salsa trays work as a starter or an add-on to either one.

Build Your Own suits office lunches and parties where people have different diets, because each person controls their own plate. Burritos by the Box is easier for meetings, field trips or volunteer crews where people eat on the move and you do not want a buffet line.

How much is Chipotle catering?

Chipotle's own catering page lists catering as starting at $8.25 per person, but it does not spell out what that entry price buys. In practice, most groups pay more once they choose their proteins and add chips.

Two catering marketplaces published price guides in mid-2026. CaterCow, which last checked prices on June 16, 2026, put Chipotle catering at roughly $11 to $16 per person, with a Build Your Own spread with one protein at about $10.85 per person in mid-priced cities such as Atlanta, Chicago and Denver, and about $13.35 in New York City. Waiter.com, updated August 21, 2026, listed Build Your Own at $12.50 per person with chicken or sofritas and $13.50 with steak, barbacoa or carnitas. These guides are a starting point, not a quote.

Your exact price appears when you enter a pickup or delivery address and a headcount on Chipotle's catering site. The total moves with three things:

• Protein. Chicken and sofritas cost the least, and steak and barbacoa cost the most, the same pattern as the regular Chipotle menu.
• Number of proteins. A double or triple protein spread costs more per person than a single.
• Extras. Guacamole, queso, extra chips trays, drinks, tax, delivery and tip all sit on top of the per-person rate. CaterCow suggests adding 15 to 25 percent to the food subtotal for an all-in budget.

What comes in each Chipotle catering package?

Every package is built from the same ingredients on the regular menu. Here is what the third-party guides describe for each one.

Build Your Own. You choose one, two or three proteins, plus rice, beans, salsas and toppings, and the order comes with flour tortillas so guests can make burritos or tacos. Waiter.com says serving utensils, plates, napkins, forks, ingredient labels and warming trays are included, and that guacamole and queso cost extra.

Burritos by the Box. Burritos arrive individually wrapped with your choice of fillings. CaterCow says every two burritos come with chips, tomatillo-green chili salsa and sour cream.

Chips & Salsa. A tray of chips with salsas, plus guacamole or queso in the version CaterCow describes. Both guides say one tray covers about 10 to 15 people, at roughly $40 to $62 depending on the city.

Chipotle's catering does not include staff, setup or cleanup, and there is no breakfast catering because Chipotle does not serve breakfast.

How do you order Chipotle catering?

Order at least 24 hours ahead on Chipotle's website or app, or by phone. Chipotle's catering link sends you to its dedicated catering ordering site.

1. Pick pickup or delivery and the restaurant you want to fill the order.
2. Enter your headcount. Chipotle's range is 6 to 200 people. Waiter.com reports a 10-person minimum for Build Your Own, so the smallest orders may need to be Burritos by the Box.
3. Choose the package, proteins and add-ons, then pick a time at least a day out.
4. Pay and confirm. Chipotle's fundraising FAQ also lists 1-800-CHIPOTLE as a way to place catering orders by phone.

For 50 or more guests, Waiter.com suggests giving three to five days of notice and calling the restaurant to confirm it can handle the order. Pickup avoids delivery fees, which Waiter.com puts at $10 to $30 when Chipotle handles delivery through its partners.

If you are a Chipotle Rewards member, log in before you order. Chipotle's Rewards terms say a qualifying catering order placed on Chipotle's own web ordering sites earns points. Is a Family Meal or group order better than catering?

For four to six people, a Family Meal is usually cheaper and faster than catering. For a group that wants regular individual entrees today, a group order works better.

Family Meals are Chipotle's small-group spread, first launched in August 2025 as Build Your Own Chipotle. Each one includes a protein, rice, beans, cheese, romaine, up to three large sides, a large guacamole or queso, 10 soft flour tortillas and a large bag of chips. Chipotle says a chicken Family Meal costs less than $10 per person for a group of six. At the stores we checked in October 2026 that worked out to about $49 to $50 with chicken and $60 to $61 with steak or barbacoa. They are sold only in the app and on Chipotle's website, and they can be ready in about 15 minutes.

Group orders let up to 15 people add their own meals to one order at normal menu prices, with the organizer paying. Use one when people want a regular Chipotle burrito or bowl and you need the food the same day.

Catering makes sense from about 10 people up, when you want trays, utensils and a scheduled delivery time.

How much Chipotle catering should you order?

Order one catering serving per guest and add one chips tray for roughly every 12 people. CaterCow's calculator uses one tray per 12 guests, and both guides say a tray covers 10 to 15.

For a quick budget, multiply your headcount by $11 to $16 per person and add 15 to 25 percent for tax, delivery and tip. A 20-person office lunch, for example, lands around $220 to $325 for food in CaterCow's mid-2026 estimate, or about $250 to $410 all-in. Chipotle's $8.25 starting rate is the floor, so a 20-person order cannot cost less than $165 before tax.

If some guests are vegetarian or vegan, Build Your Own lets you add sofritas, a plant-based protein, or fajita veggies next to the meat. Flour tortillas contain wheat, and all ingredients share one kitchen, so tell guests with serious allergies to check Chipotle's allergen information.
