What time does Popeyes open?

Most Popeyes restaurants open at 10 a.m., and almost all are open by 10:30 a.m. We pulled the posted hours for all 3,124 open U.S. locations in Popeyes' own store directory on Nov. 1, 2026.

On a typical weekday, 1,921 of 3,110 dining rooms with posted hours (about 62%) open at 10 a.m. Another 676 (22%) open at 10:30 a.m. About 10% open at 9 a.m., and only around 50 stores open earlier than that. Drive-thrus follow almost the same pattern: 65% open at 10 a.m. and 21% at 10:30 a.m.

Sunday mornings look much the same. The main difference is that a few more stores wait until 11 a.m. or noon on Sunday, about 6% compared with 2% on weekdays.

If you are hoping for an early meal, the opening time tells you a lot. A store that opens at 10 a.m. is not serving breakfast. Only a small share of Popeyes restaurants do, and our Popeyes breakfast guide explains how to find one.

What time does Popeyes close?

Popeyes dining rooms most often close at 10 p.m., and drive-thrus most often close at 11 p.m. On a typical weekday, about a third of dining rooms close between 9:30 and 10 p.m., and another 27% close between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Only 8% keep the lobby open past midnight.

Drive-thrus run later. On weekdays, 51% close at 10:30 or 11 p.m., and a quarter stay open until midnight. Another 15% go past midnight, usually to 1 or 2 a.m. That is why a store can look closed from the parking lot while the drive-thru is still taking orders.

The table below shows the full spread. Percentages are shares of stores that post hours for that service, and they may not add to exactly 100 because of rounding.

Does the Popeyes drive-thru stay open later than the dining room?

Usually, yes. Of the 2,502 open stores with both a drive-thru and posted hours for each, 1,631 (about 65%) keep the drive-thru open later than the dining room on a weekday. The typical gap is one hour, such as a lobby that closes at 10 p.m. and a drive-thru that runs until 11 p.m. Another 852 stores (34%) close both at the same time, and only 19 close the drive-thru first.

About 2,530 of the 3,124 open U.S. stores have a drive-thru at all. At the rest, the posted dining room hours are the only hours that count.

Are Popeyes hours different on weekends?

Yes, mainly at night. Opening times barely change on Friday and Saturday, but late hours stretch. About 29% of Popeyes drive-thrus stay open past midnight on Friday and Saturday nights, compared with 15% on a Monday. Dining rooms show the same shift, with 15% open past midnight on weekends versus 8% on weekdays.

Sunday is close to a regular weekday at night. Most stores close the lobby at 10 or 11 p.m. and the drive-thru at 11 p.m. or midnight.

Only four open U.S. Popeyes restaurants list round-the-clock hours in the store data, so do not count on finding one open in the early morning.

When does Popeyes start serving lunch and the chicken sandwich?

Popeyes serves its full menu, including the chicken sandwich, from the moment a typical store opens until it closes. Popeyes tags the chicken sandwich as a main-menu item in its ordering data, and at a store that opens at 10 or 10:30 a.m. that means lunch starts right away.

The exception is the small group of stores that serve breakfast. If yours does, ask the staff when the main menu begins, because we could not confirm a single changeover time for those stores.

Is Popeyes open on Thanksgiving and Christmas?

Some Popeyes restaurants open on Thanksgiving and Christmas and some close, because each franchise owner sets holiday hours. Popeyes does not publish one national holiday schedule.

What holiday meals does Popeyes sell?

Popeyes' holiday item for 2026 is the Cajun Style Turkey, a pre-cooked, Cajun-seasoned whole turkey that you thaw, heat and serve at home. It was listed on the online menu at 58 of the 59 stores we checked on Nov. 1, 2026, at a typical $59.99, with a range of $54.99 to $74.99.

Popeyes' listing sets a few rules:

• Pickup only. There is no delivery or shipping.
• Order it by itself. The turkey goes on its own order, and you start a second order for anything else.
• Sides are not included. Add mashed potatoes, mac and cheese or biscuits separately.
• Size. Popeyes lists it at 8 to 12 servings.

• Confirm before a late run. Franchise owners can change hours, and posted hours may lag on holidays or during staffing gaps.
