What sides does Popeyes have?

Popeyes has five core sides plus its buttermilk biscuits, and 58 or 59 of the 59 store menus we checked listed each one. Here is the lineup:

• Cajun fries: fries with a Cajun-seasoned coating.
• Red beans and rice: a Louisiana staple you will not find at most chicken chains.
• Mashed potatoes with Cajun gravy: mashed potatoes topped with Popeyes' Cajun gravy.
• Homestyle mac and cheese: the richest side, with 21 grams of fat in a regular.
• Coleslaw: a sweet slaw, with 10 grams of sugar in a regular.
• Buttermilk biscuit: flaky and buttery, and it comes with every bone-in and tender combo.

A few extras show up at some stores. Cajun Rice, made with Cajun and Creole seasonings, peppers, onion and a mix of ground beef and ground chicken, was on the online menu at 17 of the 59 stores we checked. Cheese Bites appeared at only 5. You can also add a single jalapeño pepper or an extra cup of Cajun gravy at most stores.

How much are Popeyes sides?

A regular Popeyes side typically costs $3.49 and a large one $5.99, according to Drive Thru Index's tracking of about 3,000 stores on Nov. 1, 2026. Homestyle mac and cheese costs more, $3.99 for a regular and $6.99 for a large.

Prices vary by store. A regular side ran from about $2.29 to $4.99, and a large from $4.49 to $8.99. In our own check of 59 store menus, the middle price for a regular side was a bit higher, $3.79. The table below lists every side with its price and calories.

How much are Popeyes fries?

Popeyes Cajun fries typically cost $3.49 for a regular and $5.99 for a large in November 2026. A regular ran from $2.49 to $4.99 across stores, and a large from $4.49 to $8.99.

Popeyes sells fries in only two sizes. There is no small; the regular is the smallest size and the one that comes in a combo. A regular has 270 calories, and a large has 740, almost three times as much.

Fries are the default side in many orders, but you can swap in any other regular side in a combo. Red beans and rice and mashed potatoes cost the same as fries at typical prices.

Which Popeyes sides are lightest or most filling?

Regular mashed potatoes with Cajun gravy are the lightest Popeyes side at 110 calories. Regular coleslaw is next at 160, though 10 of its 12 grams of carbs come from sugar.

The most filling sides are the mac and cheese and the red beans and rice. A large mac and cheese has 850 calories and 33 grams of protein. A large red beans and rice has 640 calories, 18 grams of protein and 13 grams of fiber, the most fiber on the menu.

How do sides and biscuits work in Popeyes meals?

Every Popeyes combo comes with one regular side of your choice. Bone-in and tender combos add a biscuit, and sandwich combos do not. Family meals come with one to three large sides, plus four to eight biscuits.

Biscuits are cheaper by the bag. One typically costs $1.39, six cost about $6.19, and twelve cost about $11.09. Each has 230 calories.
