How much is Olive Garden catering for 50 or 100 people?
Using the pasta station at its most common price of $145, Olive Garden catering for 50 people costs about $725 for five stations, and for 100 people about $1,450 for ten. Add the delivery fee and the totals come to roughly $786 and $1,548 before tax and tip, or about $15.50 to $15.75 per person.
The delivery fee is 10 percent on the first $500 and 5 percent on everything above it, by our reading of Olive Garden's terms. That is $61.25 on a $725 order and $97.50 on $1,450.
Large orders need a phone call. Olive Garden's online system takes pasta stations for up to 30 people for pickup and up to 80 people for delivery, needs 24 hours' notice for station delivery, and asks you to call the restaurant for pickup orders over $350. For 100 guests, call your local Olive Garden a few days ahead so the kitchen can plan.
Is Olive Garden catering cheaper than ordering entrées?
Usually, yes, once you feed four or more. At the Grove City, Ohio restaurant, a Chicken Alfredo pan for four to six cost $64.99, while four separate Chicken Alfredo entrées would cost $83.16. The Family-Style Chicken Alfredo Bundle, at $79.49, adds a family salad and a dozen breadsticks, which makes it the better buy for a home dinner. A spaghetti pan at $46.99 replaces four $13.99 spaghetti plates for about $9 less.
The exception is a sit-down meal. Create Your Own Pasta costs $13.99 per person in the dining room and includes never-ending soup or salad and breadsticks, with no delivery fee. That beats the pasta station's $14.50 per guest plus fees, so if your group can come to the restaurant, dining in is the cheaper way to feed it. How do Olive Garden catering delivery and pickup work?
Olive Garden delivers catering orders of $100 or more before tax. Order online by 5 p.m. for next-day delivery within the restaurant's delivery area; same-day catering delivery is offered at some restaurants. The fee is 10 percent up to $500, then 5 percent for each dollar after that. Business catering includes setup, and delivery orders come with a free chafing kit on request.
Pickup has fewer rules but no chafing kits unless you buy them by calling the restaurant. Some items need lead time: allow two hours for the family lasagna bundle and four hours for the 12-serving Lasagna Classico pan. On a normal Sunday at the Ohio restaurant we checked, catering pickup ran until 9:40 p.m. and catering delivery until 9 p.m. Note that every Olive Garden is closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas Day; see our Olive Garden hours guide for holiday planning.
Can you have a party at Olive Garden?
Yes, at many locations. In Olive Garden's locator, about 270 of its 965 U.S. restaurants list "Private Dining Available," described as large-party seating. Olive Garden does not take reservations or post party-room prices online, so call the restaurant, ask about space and minimums, and pick a slower time such as a weekday afternoon.
Olive Garden does not give group discounts; its FAQ says it aims to offer good value to every guest instead. Birthdays get a little extra: the guest of honor can get a free dessert when dining in, and servers will join in singing if you ask. The catering page also lists weddings, rehearsal dinners and bridal showers among its events. For individual menu prices, see the Olive Garden menu.
