Quick answer

Starbucks sizes and prices start with the cup: a Short is 8 oz, Tall 12 oz, Grande 16 oz, Venti 20 oz hot or 24 oz iced, and Trenta about 30 oz for select iced drinks. Grande is the medium. Typical prices run from about $3.25 for a Pike Place Roast to about $6.45 for a White Chocolate Mocha.

What are the Starbucks drink sizes?

Starbucks has four everyday sizes and two smaller or larger ones. Tall is 12 oz, Grande is 16 oz and Venti is 20 oz for hot drinks or 24 oz for iced drinks. Short (8 oz) is for hot drinks only, and Trenta (about 30 oz) is for a short list of iced drinks.

The Venti split confuses a lot of people. A hot Venti and an iced Venti use different cups, because the iced cup needs room for ice. Some guides list the Trenta at 31 oz rather than 30, so think of it as roughly 30 oz.

There is also a tiny 3 oz demitasse, or demi, cup for straight espresso, and some drinks come in a kids' size, which matches a Short for hot drinks and a Tall for cold ones.

What is the medium size at Starbucks?

The medium size at Starbucks is the Grande, which holds 16 oz. It sits between the 12 oz Tall and the Venti, and many price and nutrition comparisons online use it as the standard size.

In plain terms, Tall is the small, Grande the medium and Venti the large. Using the Starbucks names when you order avoids any mix-up, especially with iced drinks, where a Trenta is also on offer.

Starbucks sizes and prices: how much is a Tall, Grande or Venti?

The price of each size depends on the drink and your store, so there is no single answer to "how much is a Venti at Starbucks." Our price list gives one typical price per drink for a standard order without splitting it by size. Treat those numbers as a mid-size benchmark: a Tall usually costs less, a Venti costs more, and the Starbucks app shows the exact steps at your store before you pay.

The table shows typical prices for the drinks people order most. Brewed coffee is the cheapest way into any size, and the sauce-heavy drinks like the White Chocolate Mocha sit at the top. Add-ons are priced separately: about $0.80 for a syrup or non-dairy milk and about $1.25 for an extra shot or cold foam. For the full list, see the Starbucks menu page.

How much is a Trenta at Starbucks?

Expect a Trenta to cost more than a Venti of the same drink. You can only get one with iced coffee, cold brew, iced tea, lemonade or Starbucks Refreshers. Hot drinks, iced lattes and other espresso drinks, and Frappuccinos stop at Venti.

We could not confirm a typical Trenta price, because prices are set store by store and our price list does not split prices by size. The base drinks give you a floor: Iced Coffee is about $4.25, Cold Brew about $4.95, and the Strawberry Açaí and Mango Dragonfruit Refreshers about $5.45 at a standard size. Our Starbucks Refreshers menu page has more on those.

Which Starbucks size is the best value?

For hot espresso drinks, a Grande is often the best value, because a hot Venti latte gets the same two espresso shots as a Grande. You pay more for extra milk, not extra coffee. An iced Venti is different: it gets a third shot, which makes it the better upgrade if you want more caffeine.

For brewed coffee and tea, size matters less if you drink in the café. Since January 27, 2025, U.S. stores refill brewed coffee and tea for free during the same visit when you order for here in a mug, glass or clean personal cup. A smaller cup plus a free refill can beat a Venti.

The Starbucks birthday reward and Star rewards cover a whole drink, so if you are redeeming, a bigger size gets more out of the reward, up to its dollar cap.
