Starbucks Secret Menu 2026: Drinks, Frappuccinos & How to Order

Last checked: Independent guide, not affiliated with Starbucks. Prices and hours vary by location.

Quick answer

The Starbucks secret menu is not an official menu. It is a collection of fan-made custom orders built from real Starbucks ingredients, such as a Chai Tea Latte with an added espresso shot. Baristas may not know the nicknames, so order by recipe. Each add-on usually costs about $0.80 to $1.25 on top of the base drink.

What is the Starbucks secret menu?

The Starbucks secret menu is a loose collection of custom drinks invented by fans and shared online. Starbucks does not publish it, and nothing on it is guaranteed. Each "secret" drink is just a regular menu item with changes, such as an extra shot, a different milk, a second syrup or a swapped base.

That is why nicknames cause trouble. Staff may not know a name like "Dirty Chai." Some baristas will know the popular ones, many will not, and none of them should have to look up a viral video during a rush. If you know the recipe, you can order any of these drinks politely and get the same result every time.

Sometimes a fan favorite becomes official. The best-known example is the "Medicine Ball," which Starbucks added to its menu as the Honey Citrus Mint Tea. Our Starbucks Medicine Ball page explains what is in it.

How do you order from the Starbucks secret menu?

Order by recipe, not by name. Start with the base drink and size, then list each change in the order it is made: milk, espresso, syrup, toppings.

A good order sounds like this: "Grande Chai Tea Latte with one shot of espresso added." A confusing one sounds like this: "Can I get a grande Dirty Chai?"

The Starbucks app is the easiest place to do it. Open the base drink, tap through the customization options and add each change. The app shows the price as you build, so you can see the add-on charges before you pay. If the app cannot build a drink, that is a good sign the café cannot make it either, because the ingredient may not be stocked.

A few courtesy rules help everyone:

  • Save long custom orders for quieter times, or place them as mobile orders.
  • Expect small differences between stores, since licensed cafés can stock things differently.
  • Seasonal syrups and toppings disappear when the season ends, so a recipe that worked in December may not work in March.

Starbucks secret menu Frappuccinos

Frappuccino secret menu orders work by mixing the regular Frappuccinos with extra sauces, syrups or shots. The base options in our list are the Caramel Frappuccino and Mocha Frappuccino at about $5.95 each and the Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino at about $5.65.

Simple builds that use real ingredients:

  • Caramel Mocha Frappuccino: a Mocha Frappuccino with a pump of caramel syrup added.
  • Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino with a shot: adds coffee flavor to a drink that normally has none.
  • Half-and-half Frappuccino: ask for a Caramel Frappuccino with half the caramel swapped for mocha sauce.

One big change: Starbucks removed the Java Chip Frappuccino on March 4, 2025, along with several other Frappuccinos and Crème Frappuccinos. Many older secret menu Frappuccinos, including candy-bar copies, depended on java chips. If a recipe online calls for them, it is out of date.

Seasonal flavors come and go. Summer 2026 brought Horchata Frappuccino options, for example, which are not part of the year-round menu.

Secret menu Starbucks Refreshers

Many old secret menu Refreshers are now just regular options. Since April 7, 2026, every Refresher can be made with water, lemonade or coconut milk, as an Energy version with extra caffeine and B vitamins, or caffeine-free. Mango syrup and mango cold foam also became year-round add-ons that spring.

That opens up easy builds that any café should be able to make:

  • Pink Drink with mango cold foam: the Strawberry Açaí and coconut milk drink with a fruit-flavored foam on top.
  • Mango Dragonfruit Refresher with coconut milk: creamier and milder than the water version.
  • Energy Pink Drink: the Pink Drink made with the Energy base, for people who want more caffeine than a regular Refresher.
  • Caffeine-free Strawberry Açaí Lemonade: a late-afternoon option.

Our Starbucks Refreshers menu page lists every current flavor and base.

Starbucks secret menu hot drinks

Hot secret menu drinks are mostly tea lattes and mochas with one or two changes. The three most useful are:

  • Dirty Chai: Chai Tea Latte (about $5.65) with an espresso shot (about $1.25).
  • Tuxedo Mocha: a Caffè Mocha made with half mocha sauce and half white chocolate mocha sauce.
  • Medicine Ball: now an official drink called Honey Citrus Mint Tea, made with Jade Citrus Mint green tea, Peach Tranquility tea, steamed lemonade, hot water and honey.

During the holiday season, which starts Nov. 5, 2026, the Peppermint Mocha returns. Fans often ask for peppermint in a White Chocolate Mocha while it is in stock. If your café is out of a seasonal syrup, there is no workaround, so have a second choice ready.

Which Starbucks hacks actually save money?

The Starbucks hacks worth using are the boring ones, because they rely on official policies rather than tricks. Ones we can confirm:

  • Free refills: brewed coffee and tea ordered for here in a mug or glass can be refilled free during that visit.
  • Iced Coffee over Cold Brew: about $4.25 versus about $4.95 if you are not picky about brewing method.
  • Free Mod Mondays: Rewards members at every level get one free drink modification on one Monday each month.
  • 25-Star reward: covers an add-on worth up to $1, such as a shot or cold foam.
  • 60-Star reward: $2 off any purchase.

Frequently asked questions

Does Starbucks have a secret menu?

Not officially. The Starbucks secret menu is a set of fan-made custom drinks shared online, built from ingredients Starbucks already stocks. Starbucks does not publish it, and staff may not know the nicknames. You can still order any of these drinks by listing the base drink and each change, and you pay normal add-on prices.

What are the best Starbucks secret menu drinks?

The most reliable Starbucks secret menu drinks are simple builds: a Dirty Chai (Chai Tea Latte plus an espresso shot, about $6.90), a Tuxedo Mocha with half mocha and half white chocolate sauce, and a Pink Drink with cold foam (about $7.20). Simple builds are cheaper and turn out the same at most stores.

Can you order Starbucks secret menu drinks in the app?

Yes, as long as each ingredient is available as a customization. Open the base drink in the Starbucks app, then add the milk, shots, syrups or toppings the recipe calls for. If the app has no option for an ingredient, that store probably cannot make the drink, often because a seasonal item is out of stock.

Do Starbucks baristas know secret menu names?

Some Starbucks baristas know popular names like Dirty Chai, but many will not, because these are fan nicknames rather than official menu items. Staff may simply not know the name you saw online. To get the drink you want at any store, describe the base drink and every change instead of using the secret menu name.

Can you still get secret menu Frappuccinos with java chips?

No. Starbucks removed the Java Chip Frappuccino from U.S. menus on March 4, 2025, and many older secret menu Frappuccinos relied on java chips. You can still build custom Frappuccinos from the Caramel, Mocha and Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccinos, about $5.65 to $5.95, with extra sauces, syrups or espresso shots.
