What are Starbucks hours on a normal day?

There is no single set of Starbucks hours. Each café picks its own schedule based on traffic, staffing and location, so two stores a mile apart can open an hour apart.

That said, a pattern shows up. A GOBankingRates check of Starbucks schedules, last updated in December 2025, found that many stores run on roughly these hours, in local time:

• Monday to Friday: 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Saturday: 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
• Sunday: 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Busy downtown stores and commuter stops can open earlier. Mall cafés often open later because they follow the mall's doors. The roughly 6,800 licensed Starbucks cafés in the U.S., the ones inside grocery stores, Target, airports, hospitals and college buildings, keep the host location's hours rather than Starbucks' own. If your nearest Starbucks is inside a supermarket, assume it closes when the coffee counter staff go home, which can be well before the store itself shuts.

Use these numbers to plan, not as a promise. The store page in the app is the only place that reflects today's real schedule.

What time does Starbucks open?

Most stand-alone Starbucks stores open between 5 and 6 a.m. Weekdays usually start at 5 a.m. to catch the commute, and weekends start an hour later at many stores.

If you need coffee before 5 a.m., look for stores near highways, hospitals or airports, which are the most likely to open early. Licensed cafés inside grocery stores and Target usually open later, close to when the host store opens.

If you want to order ahead for an early start, open the app the night before and check the store's posted opening time, so you do not set out for a café that opens later than you expect.

What time does Starbucks close?

Many Starbucks stores close around 8 or 9 p.m., with Sunday often the earliest night. Some stores in quiet areas close in the mid-afternoon, while busy urban or roadside stores stay open later.

Two things catch people out. First, closing times shift more than opening times, especially on Sundays and holidays, so check the store page before a late drive. Second, the food case thins out as the day goes on. Breakfast sandwiches, egg bites and pastries are sold all day while they last, but late in the evening some items may already be gone. The quickest way to answer "is Starbucks open today" is the store locator in the Starbucks app or on starbucks.com. Search your area, tap a store and read its hours for today. The same search is the easiest way to find a drive-through Starbucks close to you, because the map shows every nearby store and you can compare their hours side by side.

A few habits help:

• Check on the day itself during holidays, because stores post shorter hours close to the date.
• For a licensed café, check the host store too. A Starbucks inside an airport terminal or grocery store can close early even when the app's general listing looks normal.

Google Maps and other directories are handy, but they can lag behind a change the store made this week.

Is Starbucks open on Thanksgiving?

Yes, many Starbucks stores open on Thanksgiving, but usually with shorter hours, and some close for the day. Thanksgiving 2026 falls on Thursday, Nov. 26.

Starbucks has not published a single company-wide Thanksgiving schedule. In 2025, People reported that hours would vary by location and that many stores would cut their hours, and GOBankingRates listed Starbucks as open with reduced hours. Expect a later start, an earlier close or both, and expect licensed cafés in closed grocery stores or malls to be shut.

Is Starbucks open on Christmas Day and New Year's Day?

Many Starbucks stores open on Christmas Day with limited hours, and most open on New Year's Day with shorter hours than usual. Christmas 2026 is a Friday, and New Year's Day 2027 is also a Friday.

GOBankingRates, checking schedules in December 2025, listed Christmas Day as "many stores open (limited hours)" and New Year's Day as open with reduced hours. Christmas is the day most likely to find your local store closed, so do not assume. Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve can also bring early closings.

Other federal holidays are calmer. The same check listed Starbucks as open on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Labor Day, Columbus Day and Veterans Day. Easter Sunday and the Fourth of July were listed as open with varied or reduced hours. The table below sums up what to expect.

When does the Starbucks holiday menu start?

The Starbucks holiday menu for 2026 starts on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2026, in stores nationwide, according to Starbucks' announcement as reported by FOX 13 Seattle. Last year's holiday menu arrived one day later in the calendar, on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2025.

The 2026 Starbucks Christmas drinks include four new options: the Tiramisu Velvet Latte (hot or iced), Tiramisu Velvet Cold Brew, an Apple Pomegranate Refresher with pomegranate-flavored popping pearls (see our Starbucks Refreshers menu), and Snowy Apple, which uses coconut milk in place of water. The Peppermint Mocha, Caramel Brulée Latte, Sugar Cookie Latte and Gingerbread Chai return.

On the food side, the new items are a Bearista Cake Pop and a Braised Short Rib Grilled Cheese. The Cranberry Bliss Bar, Snowman Cookie and Sugar Plum Cheese Danish come back, along with a reworked Turkey & Stuffing Sandwich. Holiday merchandise lands the same day, with a Winter Wonderland collection following on Nov. 17.

Starbucks had not confirmed a Red Cup Day date for 2026 when we checked. In past years, Red Cup Day has given a free reusable holiday cup with the purchase of a holiday drink.
