How much is a Sonic shake?

A Sonic Classic Shake cost $3.29 to $3.79 for a mini and $5.69 to $6.89 for a large at the six drive-ins we checked on Nov. 1, 2026. Master Shakes, which add mix-ins such as cheesecake pieces and OREO cookie, cost about 50 cents more per size. Every flavor within a line cost the same at a given store.

Blasts are priced higher than shakes but stop at medium. There is no large Blast and no RT 44 shake. Cream slushes, which also use soft serve, are priced on our Sonic drink menu, and food prices are on the full Sonic menu.

What flavors are on the Sonic shakes menu?

Sonic sells seven Classic Shake flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, banana, caramel, hot fudge and peanut butter. Each is topped with whipped topping and a cherry.

The Master Shakes are thicker and loaded with mix-ins. The five flavors are Cheesecake, Strawberry Cheesecake, OREO Cheesecake, OREO Chocolate and OREO Peanut Butter.

SONIC Blasts blend candy or baked pieces into soft serve and top them with more of the same. The lineup has OREO, M&M's, Reese's, Heath, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Chocolate Chunk Brownie and Turtle Truffle Nut, which has praline almonds and caramel truffles.

For fall 2026, a Banana Pudding Shake and Banana Pudding Blast with vanilla wafer crumbles were on the menu as limited-time items. Limited-time flavors rotate, so they can disappear without notice.

What is the difference between a Sonic shake, a Master Shake and a Blast?

All three start with the same vanilla soft serve, but the texture and price change. A Classic Shake is soft serve blended with a flavor such as chocolate or strawberry, so it is the thinnest and cheapest. A Master Shake is thicker and adds pieces, such as cheesecake, graham cracker crumbs or OREO cookie, then more crumbs on top.

A SONIC Blast is closer to a spoonable dessert. Candy or baked pieces are swirled through the soft serve and piled on top, and Blasts are sold only in mini, small and medium. If you like to sip through a straw, pick a shake. If you want chunks in every bite, pick a Blast.

How many calories are in a Sonic shake or Blast?

A medium Sonic shake has roughly 700 to 1,000 calories, depending on flavor. Strawberry is the lightest Classic Shake, at 690 for a medium, and the OREO Peanut Butter Master Shake is the heaviest, at 1,030. A large OREO Peanut Butter Master Shake reaches 1,480.

Which Sonic frozen treat is the best value?

The Vanilla Soft Serve Cup is the cheapest way in, at $1.99 at most of the stores we checked. A sundae adds a topping for about a dollar more.

For shakes and Blasts, the mini size is the value play. A mini Classic Shake at $3.29 to $3.79 costs about $1.20 less than a medium and saves about 340 calories. Every Sonic frozen treat starts with the same vanilla soft serve. Sonic does not sell hard-scoop ice cream.

The simplest options are the cheapest. A Vanilla Soft Serve Cup costs $1.99 to $2.59 and has 300 calories. Sundaes come in one size, in hot fudge (460 calories), caramel (430) and strawberry (380), and cost $2.89 to $3.29.

The small BARQ'S Root Beer Float sits on the $1.99 Menu, but only some stores charge $1.99. Prices ranged up to $4.69. For the holidays, the Santa Slush Float mixes a cherry-vanilla slush with soft serve for $2.99, with 750 calories.
