Does Sonic still have half-price drinks?
Yes, but mainly as a SONIC Rewards perk, not as a daily Happy Hour. When Sonic launched SONIC Rewards on April 6, 2026, it made half-price drinks and slushes one of three perks that Legend members, who visit 30 times a year, can pick on each visit.
In November 2026, Sonic's website did not list a daily Happy Hour, and its old deals page redirected to the rewards page. In spring 2026, some customers reported that the everyday half-price drink offer had vanished from the app while others still saw it, which fits offers that now vary by member.
If you visit often, the Legend perk is the reliable route. Otherwise, check the app's offers before you order, and ask your drive-in whether it runs any local drink specials.
What are Sonic's most popular drinks?
The Cherry Limeade is Sonic's signature, made with fresh lime and cherry flavor. Ocean Water is a blue, coconut-flavored soda, and the Dirty Dr Pepper adds coconut, cream and lime to Dr Pepper.
Refreshers are newer. They mix fruit purees with green tea, come still, sparkling or frozen, and have about 45 mg of caffeine each. Sonic says they are not recommended for children, pregnant or nursing women, or people sensitive to caffeine.
Cream slushes blend soft serve into a slush, so they act more like dessert. A medium Strawberry Cream Slush has 690 calories, close to a medium shake on our Sonic shakes menu. A medium drink is already included in the $7 Big Deal Meal on our Sonic deals page, and swapping a large Dirty Dr Pepper ($4.09 to $4.59) for a medium sweet tea ($2.49 to $2.79) saves close to $2. For the lowest price per ounce, the RT 44 wins, but only if you will actually finish 44 ounces.
How do you customize a Sonic drink?
Sonic lets you add flavors to almost any drink, which is how most fans build their own. In the app, you can add syrups such as cherry, blue raspberry, coconut or vanilla. Zero-sugar flavors include blackberry, diet cherry, mango, peach and raspberry. You can also add real fruit purees, Nerds candy, sweet cream or "Make It Dirty."
