What is the Sub of the Day at Subway?

The Sub of the Day is one six-inch sub that Subway sells for $4.99 on a set day of the week. Subway announced the lineup in January 2026 and kept it when it launched its Fresh Value Menu on April 28, 2026.

The schedule is easy to remember because the days are named after the sub: Meatball Monday, Tuna Tuesday, Sweet Onion Teriyaki Wednesday and Turkey Thursday. So if you are asking what the sub of the day is today, check the day of the week and use the table below.

A few things to know before you go. The $4.99 price is for participating U.S. shops, and Subway says it is higher in California, Washington, Alaska and Hawaii. Extra meat, cheese or avocado costs more. You can also turn it into the Meal of the Day with chips or two cookies and a 20-ounce fountain drink for $2 more, which our Subway deals page covers in detail. Each shop is franchise-owned, so open the Subway app to confirm the sub your store is featuring today.

What Subway sandwiches are on the menu?

Subway groups its standard subs into families in its October 2026 U.S. nutrition guide. Every one comes as a six-inch or a footlong, and most can also be made as a wrap, salad or protein bowl.

  • Cheesesteaks: Steak Philly and Chipotle Philly.
  • Chicken: Grilled Chicken, Honey Mustard Chicken and Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki.
  • Hot subs: Meatball Marinara.
  • Deli classics: Oven-Roasted Turkey, Roast Beef, Tuna and Veggie Delite.
  • Local favorites, at participating shops only: Big Hot Pastrami, Buffalo Chicken and Veggie Patty.

On top of that, the Fresh Fit line offers lighter builds on multigrain bread. You choose the bread, cheese, vegetables and sauce on any of them.

How much is a Subway sandwich?

Most classic Subway sandwiches cost about $6 to $7 as a six-inch and about $9 to $10 as a footlong in our 2026 price list. The cheapest is the Veggie Delite and the meat-heavy subs cost the most.

These are estimated typical U.S. prices, not a national price list, because each franchise owner sets prices. Add-ons change the total fast: avocado is about $1.99, extra cheese about $0.90 and double protein on a footlong about $3.50. If price matters most, the $3.99 Protein Pockets and the $4.99 Sub of the Day undercut every regular six-inch on this table. For a deeper look at sizes and the footlong math, see our Subway footlong price guide.

Typical Subway sandwich prices and calories (estimated 2026 U.S. prices; calories for the standard six-inch build)

What are Subway's Protein Pockets?

Protein Pockets are not sandwiches on bread but small 9-inch tortilla wraps that cost $3.99 on the value menu. The chicken builds are Baja Chicken and Peppercorn Ranch Chicken, and you can still customize the vegetables and sauce.

They are a good pick if you want a light, cheap lunch you can eat with one hand. For comparison, a regular Subway wrap uses a 12-inch tortilla and a footlong's worth of meat, so a Protein Pocket is the smaller, lower-priced choice.

Which classic Subway subs are worth knowing?

A few subs come up again and again in searches, so here is what is actually on them.

The Subway meatball sub is the Meatball Marinara: meatballs in marinara sauce, served hot. It is the Monday Sub of the Day and 550 calories as a six-inch. The Sweet Onion Chicken Teriyaki is the Wednesday Sub of the Day at 430 calories as a six-inch, and the Oven-Roasted Turkey is Thursday's at 470. The Steak & Cheese is the hot steak pick, at about $7.99 as a six-inch and 510 calories.

If you want the lightest sub, the six-inch Veggie Delite has 310 calories and costs about $5.29 in our list.

What is new or limited-time at Subway right now?

As of October 31, 2026, the main limited-time sandwich is the Fritos Chicken Enchilada Sub. Subway brought it back on October 27, 2026, for the first time since 2014. It uses rotisserie-style chicken in enchilada sauce, Fritos corn chips, Baja Chipotle sauce, Monterey cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes and red onions. Subway has not given an end date.

For lighter options, the Fresh Fit line returned in September 2025 with subs on hearty multigrain bread; check our Subway nutrition guide for those numbers. You can see the whole menu, sides included, on our Subway menu page.
