Subway Hours: What Time Subway Opens and Closes (2026)

What time does Subway open?

Most Subway shops open between 7 and 9 a.m. on weekdays. In our sample, the middle store opened at 8 a.m., 57% were open by 8 and 94% were open by 9. About a quarter opened by 7 a.m., and only about 1 in 20 opened at 6 a.m. or earlier.

How we got these numbers: on October 31, 2026, we pulled the posted hours for 1,080 Subway listings in 20 U.S. cities from Subway's own store locator, from Houston and Chicago to Boston, Seattle and Las Vegas. The percentages here leave out the 166 listings that show 24-hour service, which we cover below.

Subway does not set national hours, because each shop is run by an independent franchise owner. A Subway inside a gas station, store or airport may follow the host location's hours. Treat these figures as what is typical, then check your own shop before you go.

What time does Subway close?

Most Subway shops close between 9 and 11 p.m., and 10 p.m. is the most common closing time. On a weekday in our sample, 61% stayed open until at least 10 p.m., and about 10% stayed open until midnight or later.

At the early end, 14% of shops closed before 9 p.m. on a weekday, and a few closed as early as 6 or 7 p.m. If you are heading out late, do not assume your nearest Subway is open, since closing times differ even between shops in the same city. The typical shop in Boston, Seattle and Nashville closed at 9 p.m. in our sample, while the typical shop in Orlando and Oklahoma City stayed open until 11 p.m.

Are Subway hours different on weekends?

Yes. Subway shops open later on weekends but close at about the same time. The median Saturday and Sunday both ran 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. in our sample, one hour later in the morning than on weekdays.

Early weekend breakfasts are harder to find. Only 8% of shops opened by 7 a.m. on Saturday and 6% on Sunday, compared with 24% on weekdays. Some shops close entirely on weekends: about 4% of listings were closed all day Saturday and about 6% all day Sunday.

Is Subway open 24 hours?

A small share of Subway listings show 24-hour service. In our sample, 166 of 1,080 listings, about 15%, were listed as open around the clock, but they were clustered in two cities: 77 of 180 listings in Chicago and 36 of 90 in Las Vegas. No other city we checked had more than 14.

A 24-hour listing is worth a phone call before a late trip, because posted hours can be out of date. For late-night eating outside those listings, about 1 in 10 regular shops stayed open until midnight or later on a weekday in our sample, and more than 1 in 4 stayed open until at least 11 p.m. If you often eat late, save the hours of the two or three shops closest to you, since closing times vary from shop to shop.

Is Subway open on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and Easter?

Some Subway shops open on Thanksgiving, Christmas Day and Easter, but there is no national rule. Each franchise owner decides, so one shop may close while another nearby stays open with shorter hours.

For 2026, Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, and Christmas Day is Friday, December 25. Many shops close or shorten hours on major holidays. The best way to check is the store's page on Subway's locator, which can show special holiday hours when the owner posts them. We saw these holiday overrides in the locator data during our check, so the feature is in use. If nothing special is posted, call the shop. Does Subway have a Thanksgiving sandwich?

Subway sold a Thanksgiving-themed lineup last year, but it has not announced one for 2026 as of October 31. The Festive Feast collection launched nationwide on November 13, 2025, with three subs topped with stuffing and cranberry sauce: the TurHamKen (turkey, ham and rotisserie-style chicken), the Festive Turkey and the Festive Chicken. You could also add cranberry sauce or stuffing to any sub for $1.

What are Subway's breakfast hours?

Only some Subway shops serve breakfast, and each sets its own hours. Subway lists breakfast as a category on its U.S. menu, with egg-and-cheese subs on Artisan Italian or flatbread and egg wraps, but its nutrition guide marks breakfast items as available at participating shops only.

Where breakfast is served, a February 2026 Tasting Table roundup put the usual cutoff at about 11 to 11:30 a.m. Some customers report shops that serve it all day, but that is not official. How do you check if a Subway near you is open?

Use Subway's store locator on Subway.com or the store finder in the Subway app. Each store page lists that shop's hours for the week and, when the owner posts them, holiday hours.

If the locator and a map app disagree, call the shop to be sure.

Keep in mind that our figures are a snapshot. We pulled them on one day, October 31, 2026, from 20 large cities, so shops in smaller towns could look different. Any store's hours can change at short notice, which is why checking the locator on the day you go beats relying on a general rule, including ours.
